The White House chief of staff leads the staff of the Executive Office of the President (EOP) and advises the president on policy issues.

- The White House
- Keith Hennessey. Roles of the President’s White House economic advisors. This provides an excellent overview of the responsibility/roles of various White House staff and other EOP staff members. It focuses on economic policy, but provides a good description of the process of policy-making at the WH level.
- 2012 Report to Congress on White House Staff. Since 1995, the White House has been required to deliver a report to Congress listing the title and salary of every White House Office employee. In addition, this report also contains the title and salary details of administration officials who work at the Office of Policy Development, including the Domestic Policy Council and the National Economic Council — along with White House Office employees.
- The EOP Fiscal Year (FY) 2013 Congressional Budget Submission, supporting the offices and councils within the EOP, was submitted to the Congress on February 13, 2012.
- Weekly Compilation of Presidential Documents. Provides searchable database of all Executive Orders, press releases and other documents issued by the Executive Office of the President.

- Office of Management and Budget (OMB). OMB) is a United States agency formed in 1970 ” to serve the President of the United States in implementing his vision across the Executive Branch.” The OMB reports directly to the president and is the largest element of the Office of the President.

- National Economic Council. NEC was established in 1993 to advise the President on U.S. and global economic policy. The NEC is comprised of numerous department and agency heads within the administration, whose policy jurisdictions impact the nation’s economy. The NEC Director works in conjunction with these officials to coordinate and implement the President’s economic policy objectives. The Director is supported by a staff of policy specialists in various fields including healthcare.
