Overview

HIPAA administrative simplification regulations were issued in order to facilitate electronic transactions, with the expectation this would ultimately improve the efficiency of an industry long criticized for high overhead costs. The Duke Center for Health Policy has developed a draft working paper on the benefits and costs of HIPAA regulations related to administrative simplification.
