Subsidized care mandates encompass several federal and state initiatives, including Hill-Burton requirements imposed on hospitals and other health facilities that received Hill-Burton funding, state uncompensated care requirements imposed on hospitals, and state indigent care mandates imposed on local communities. The Duke Center for Health Policy and Inequalities Research has developed a draft report on hospital community service obligations (pdf).
